TO THE MOON AND (NEVER) BACK
GROUP EXHIBITION 2023
SPACE
RIVER CITY BANGKOK
"To the moon and (never) back" is an exhibition that compares the search for love to an expedition to the far-flung lunar frontier, undertaken by a brave astronaut. It is a challenging journey, waylaid by many moods and emotions such as hope, yearning, happiness, fulfilment, anticipation, listlessness, uncertainty and pain.
Perhaps at the end of this journey of 477,710 miles, a figure restored from memory’s recesses will appear on the horizon to change the tune of your heart…
forever.
“To the moon and (never) back”, open 8 June – 23 July 2023 at RCB Photographers’ Gallery 1 of River City Bangkok.

The concept for Chubbynida’s piece in “To the moon and (never) back” is inspired by a scene from "Whisper of the Heart", in which a grandfather tells the story of the King of the Dwarfs and a Fairy Princess who fall in love, though they belong to different worlds. The couple appears at every hour, though each time the second hand completes a circle, the Fairy Princess turns into a sheep.
Deeply moved, Chubbynida has captured the story of an impossible love between two characters who live in different places, hoping that someday they will have the chance to meet, in "LITTLE HOPE".

Crafted from wood and stone and enhanced with light, each art piece transforms into a unique lamp adorned with artistic painting.
